Massachusetts Gaming Revenue Experiences Decline in February

U.S.—The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has reported that Plainridge Park Casino (PPC), MGM Springfield (MGM), and Encore Boston Harbor (EBH) brought in $92 million in gross gaming revenue (GGR) during February. This marks a decrease from $96.6 million in January 2026 and a 1.5% year-on-year fall.
Encore Boston Harbor topped the market with $56.3 million in GGR, comprising $22.4 million from table games and $33.9 million from slot machines. MGM Springfield came next with $22.4 million, including $4.1 million from table games and $18.2 million from slots, whereas Plainridge Park Casino recorded $13.3 million from slots.
The seven online sports wagering license holders and the three in-person license holders generated roughly $76.1 million in taxable sports wagering revenue (TSWR). The total sports betting handle reached $620 million, with $611 million wagered online and $8.8 million at casinos. Taxable gaming revenue amounted to $76.1 million, and $15.2 million in taxes was collected.
As of now, the Commonwealth has gathered about $425.18 million in total taxes and assessments since sports wagering launched in person on January 31, 2023, and online on March 10, 2023.
EBH, MGM, and PPC hold licenses as Category 1 Sports Wagering Operators, enabling them to run retail sportsbooks. Bally Bet, BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, ESPNBet, Fanatics Betting & Gaming, and FanDuel are licensed as Category 3 Sports Wagering Operators, permitting them to operate mobile or online sportsbooks.
